{"id":7597,"date":"2023-03-23T08:54:06","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T13:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/?p=7597"},"modified":"2023-03-23T08:54:09","modified_gmt":"2023-03-23T13:54:09","slug":"stations-of-the-cross-hike-on-palm-sunday-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/2023\/03\/23\/stations-of-the-cross-hike-on-palm-sunday-2\/","title":{"rendered":"stations of the cross hike on Palm Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/mater-dolorosa.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doxaweb.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/09\/mater-dolorosa.jpg?w=204\" alt=\"Mary at the foot of the Cross\" class=\"wp-image-3262\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>I will be leading a Stations of the Cross hike beginning at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stjohns-excelsior.org\/about\/our-parish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church<\/a><\/strong> and ending at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stjohns-excelsior.org\/resurrection-cemetery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resurrection Cemetery<\/a><\/strong> in Excelsior on Palm Sunday (April 2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you will be in the Twin Cities area, you are welcome to join me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHEN:<\/strong> Sunday, April 2, 2023 &#8211; 11:30 am (Sunday Mass at the parish is at 10 am)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHERE:<\/strong> Meet at the entrance to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stjohns-excelsior.org\/about\/our-parish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHAT:&nbsp;<\/strong> Praying the Stations of the Cross. You may download the prayers <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/stations_of_cross.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>. I will have paper copies of the prayers on hand also.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FORMAT:&nbsp;<\/strong> The hike is roughly 4 miles in total, passing from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stjohns-excelsior.org\/about\/our-parish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church<\/a><\/strong> in Excelsior to the parish cemetery (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stjohns-excelsior.org\/resurrection-cemetery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resurrection Cemetery<\/a><\/strong>). Along the way to the cemetery, we will walk in silence, pausing from time to time to read one of the stations aloud, with the final stations taking place within the loop drive of the cemetery. Once we have finished the stations, our prayer will conclude and then we&#8217;ll walk back to the church. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"469\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/stations_hike_Excelsior.jpg?resize=800%2C469&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/stations_hike_Excelsior.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/stations_hike_Excelsior.jpg?resize=300%2C176&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/stations_hike_Excelsior.jpg?resize=768%2C450&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THE PATH:<\/strong> All of the hike will be on pavement, so you will not need hiking boots, but walking shoes with some water resistance would be a good idea in case of wet weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HOW LONG:<\/strong> I expect that the entire hike, including the stations, will last around 90 minutes.
