{"id":4891,"date":"2021-03-30T04:13:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-30T09:13:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doxaweb.blog\/?p=4891"},"modified":"2021-04-03T17:39:39","modified_gmt":"2021-04-03T22:39:39","slug":"the-shroud-of-turin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doxaweb.com\/blog\/2021\/03\/30\/the-shroud-of-turin\/","title":{"rendered":"the shroud of Turin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>For the second year in a row, the Shroud of Turin \u2013 which bears the image of a crucified man and has been venerated for centuries as Christ&#8217;s burial cloth \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/shroud-of-turin-to-go-on-virtual-display-for-holy-saturday-84580\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>was placed on display on Holy Saturday<\/strong><\/a> (April 3, 2021) in the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On my podcast this week, I have <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/weightofglory.buzzsprout.com\/996733\/3297544-the-shroud-of-turin-what-scientists-discovered\">posted the audio of a talk<\/a><\/strong> given in 2005 about the Shroud of Turin by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksacco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jack Sacco<\/a><\/strong>. Sacco, an engineer and writer by trade, interviewed the multi-disciplinary group of scientists who were given access to study the Shroud in 1978. The venue for the two-hour presentation was Saint Monica&#8217;s Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California, and the speaker was introduced by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.familyrosary.org\/author\/father-willy-raymond-c-s-c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Father Willy Raymond, CSC<\/a><\/strong>. Music for this episode was provided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebash.com\/brass-ensemble\/3brass\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>3brass<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"buzzsprout-player-3297544\"><\/div>\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.buzzsprout.com\/996733\/3297544-the-shroud-of-turin-what-scientists-discovered.js?container_id=buzzsprout-player-3297544&amp;player=small\" type=\"text\/javascript\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Many of us [scientists] were, at first, quite confident of our technical adequacy.
